The hormone is produced in the anterior pituitary gland that is secreted through a system called the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis the actual release of the hormone is through the bloodstream. LH main purpose is to advert with the functioning of the testicles in men and the functioning of the ovaries in women. The two critical functions are to control the production of sex steroid, which are testosterone in men and oestradiol in women, and supporting the germ cell production. The hormone acts specialized cells that surround both sexes germ cells to provide an environment to support their maturation and development ( nightspot for Endocrinology ).It is one of the main phases of women menstrual cycle.
